What shall we do with a drunken sailor?

Early in the mornin'

Hooray and up she rises

Early in the mornin'

Put him in a long boat 'til he's sober

Put him in the scuppers with a hosepipe on him

Shave his belly with a rusty razor

Lock him in the cupboard with the captain's daughter

That's what we do with a drunken sailor

Drunken Sailor was mentioned in a Pacific Ocean whaling voyage of 1839. It’s melody is similar to the Irish folk song “Óró sé do bheatha abhaile”.
