In 1892, as part of a “farewell” tour of Bohemian and Moravian cities Dvorak wrote Rondo in G minor with piano accompaniment for the cellist Hanus Wihan. Two years later he arranged the Rondo’s piano accompaniment for small orchestra. The piece is scored for solo cello, 2 oboes, 2 bassoons, timpani, violins, violas, cellos, double basses. The premiere performance with cellist Moritz Kahnt took place on 16 December 1894.
